Payment Options

At the time of rental we will request an authorization on your charge card as follows:

* If not insurance is taken this amount will be higher.

Prepayment

Cash Rentals: For a cash rental, customer must appear at the rental counter at least 72 hours in advance to complete the cash rental application form. The minimum prepayment can be determined at that time. For additional information, renter may contact the rental counter directly. This same procedure will apply for a customer with travel vouchers who do not have a charge card.

Travel Vouchers: Avis and Avis honored vouchers are accepted as payment at the end of the rental only. Renter must present an Avis honored charge card as a guarantee at the time of rental or be cash qualified.


Waiver and Protection Options

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)

Purchase of LDW reduces the financial responsibility/Non-waivable Excess (NEW) in case of loss or damage to the Avis vehicle as a result of fire, theft, damage or total loss of the vehicle, as long as the vehicle was driven in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

Upon an occurrence of car accident or damage, the renter is required to provide Avis with a corresponding Police report within a maximum of 24 hours and fill out the “Avis Accident Form”.

Damage to people and their property

Motor Liability Insurance covers bodily injury caused by road or off-road motor vehicles (specifically excepting bicycles, boats, rains and aircraft) as follows:

Coverage is payable only when the vehicle is operated in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

Additional Liability Insurance (ALI)

Purchase of ALI increases the protection for the driver and the passengers in the third party’s vehicle for bodily injury or death up to a maximum of 50,000.00 BRL. ALI also provides protection for the third party’s monetary damages (including vehicle), covering accident or fire damage caused by Avis vehicle, up to 50,000.00 BRL. Coverage is in effect as long as the vehicle is driven in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. ALI does not cover the loss of accessories.
ALI: Non-Waivable Excess: BRL 1,000.00 

Upon an occurrence of car accident or damage, the renter is required to provide Avis with a corresponding Police report within a maximum of 24 hours and fill out the “Avis Accident Form”.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

PAI protects the vehicle's occupants against bodily injury attributable to an accident involving the Avis vehicle up to a maximum of BRL 5,000.00 per accident.

Upon an occurrence of car accident or damage, the renter is required to provide Avis with a corresponding Police report within a maximum of 24 hours and fill out the “Avis Accident Form”.

ID Requirements

Passport is also required for non-residents of Brazil.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
